Trade Catalogs

I am looking for the following South Bend Bait Company dealer trade catalogs.  These catalogs are roughly 8 x 10 in size.  Most trade catalogs will have a copyright date of one year prior to the fishing season (e.g., copyright 1925 for the 1926 fishing season).  If you have any of these for sale or trade, please contact me.

Early Trade Catalogs

The first South Bend Bait Company dealer trade catalog was issued in 1922.   A picture of the copyright 1922 South Bend Fishing Tackle Trade Catalog No. 45 appears on the right.   If you have any catalogs prior to this date, please contact me even if they are not for sale.  Obtaining access to information contained in these catalogs would be vital in assisting me with my research efforts.

...Catalogs of the 1920's Wanted

Dealer trade catalogs from the 1920's are difficult to find, but are full of valuable information about early South Bend lures and accessories.  Many feature pictures of counter displays and multi-pack lure boxes.  Below is a listing of dealer trade catalogs I need from the 1920s.  Featured on the left is the copyright 1925 dealer trade catalog for the 1926 fishing season.

Catalogs of the 1930's and 40's Wanted...

The dealer trade catalogs from the 1930's feature some the most beautiful artwork ever used on South Bend catalog covers.  An example is the 1932 dealer trade catalog below.  Most dealer trade catalogs from this era have a copyright date of one year prior to the fishing season and also feature similar covers to the retail catalog issued for that fishing season.

...Catalogs of the 1950's and 60's Wanted

Dealer trade catalogs from 1950 to 1953 have the same copyright year and cover art as the South Bend retail catalogs. After 1956, catalog quality and cover art diminish sharply on South Bend Bait Company dealer trade catalogs as the South Bend product line moved into the "modern era" of fishing tackle.

Modern Era Catalogs Wanted:  1970 to Today

I am looking for South Bend catalogs dating to 1970 and later.  In late 1964, South Bend was purchased by Gladding so many of the catalogs bear the Gladding-South Bend name on the cover.   Today, the company goes by the name of South Bend Sporting Goods.
