Kimball's Unknown-2

Unidentified early wooden bait |
Unidentified early wooden bait with interesting
spring release hook. Featured on page 65 of Art Kimball's "Early
Fishing Plugs of the U.S.A." Talked to a few collectors that have seen
a 1 or 2 others over the years so perhaps this is from a small company or a
"mom and pop" shop? Might be home made, but construction looks a bit
more refined. Has release mechanism at front of wooden bait.
Nice character. Bait has a few scrapes to paint as seen in picture
from where the hook touched the wooden body. Overall a nice and
interesting piece. |
